Strong shaking in Habiganj due to earthquake including Sylhet

Most of the people of Habiganj felt the shock of the earthquake along with Sylhet. The earthquake was felt yesterday Friday (June 16) at 10:46:15 in the morning. The magnitude of the earthquake was 4.5 on the Richter scale. Earthquake was felt in Sylhet and surrounding areas. It is said that the earthquake was felt in Moulvibazar and Sunamganj.
Shah Mohammad Sajib Hossain, Assistant Meteorologist of Sylhet Meteorological Office told the media about this. He said that the earthquake was felt at 10:46:15 yesterday morning. Its origin was Golapganj in Sylhet. The magnitude of the earthquake was 4.5 on the Richter scale.
However, according to the website of the United States Geological Survey (USGS), which deals with earthquakes, the magnitude of the earthquake was 5 on the Richter scale.
The epicenter of the earthquake was 23.8 km southeast of Sylhet city, 40 km northeast of Moulvibazar, 34.3 km west southwest of Karimganj, Assam, India. The source was 10 km below the surface.
Meanwhile, since Friday was a holiday, many people were sleeping. Many woke up to a strong jolt. It has been raining continuously for the last three days in Sylhet. Among them, many people were frightened by the earthquake. Ekhlas Ahmad Tanmoy, a resident of Kanishail area of the city, said that the shaking was quite strong. Sensing the earthquake, many people came out in the rain. However, no damage was reported anywhere.
