Maulana Yunus Ahmad, Secretary General of the Islamic Movement, said that the Election Commission has shown extreme failure in the City Corporation elections. National elections are not possible with this commission. He said that the Election Commission could not provide security to a mayoral candidate. Moreover, the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) said in his speech that the mayoral candidate of Hatpakha has passed away? There is no difference between his speech and the speech of Awami League. This person (CEC Habibul Awal) cannot in any way hold an important position like the commission. Resign with honor if you want. If not, the people’s movement will have to suffer a tragic end.

He said these words during the protest rally against the attack on Hatpakha candidate Mufti Faizul Karim and demanding the resignation of the CEC during the Barisal City Corporation (BCC) elections. The protest rally was held in front of the north gate of Baitul Mukarram Mosque after Friday prayers (June 16). Thousands of leaders and activists of the party participated in this protest.

The Secretary General of the Islamic Movement said that by shedding the blood of a mayoral candidate with the goon forces of the government, occupying the polling station with external terrorists and attacking the voters, the victory of the boat means showing the tyranny of the Awami League.

Calling on the government to resign, he said, the Islamic movement will not participate in any election except under a neutral government Every drop of blood spilled by Faizul Karim will be avenged.

In addition to party secretary general Hafez Maulana Yunus Ahmad, assistant general secretary and president of Dhaka Metropolitan South Maulana Muhammad Imtiaz Alam and other leaders spoke. A protest march was taken out after the rally. The protest march started from in front of Baitul Mekarram and passed through Paltan Junction, Nayapaltan, Nightingale Junction, Fakirapool and ended at Baitul Mukarram.

Meanwhile, members of the police stationed around the rally from Paltan Mor to Baitul Mukarram since morning. Water cannons are kept ready at Paltan Junction.
