Birth registration by forging Habiganj mayor’s seal and signature, two arrested in jail

Habiganj Municipality mayor Ataur Rahman Selim’s signature and two people arrested in the case of forging the birth certificate have been sent to jail. They have been remanded by the police for further questioning.
Meanwhile, the police seized fake birth certificates, ID cards and certificates with the signatures and seals of public representatives, government officials, and policemen from two of the fraudsters.
The fraudsters confessed their guilt to the police during initial interrogation. However, the names of their other associates have also been revealed. However, the police have not released their names for the sake of investigation.
The arrested are Anik Kumar Dev (21), son of Tapas Dev, resident of Ward No. 4 of Paschim Bhadai village of Sadar Upazila and Abdul Aziz (27), son of deceased Nur Hossain of the same area.
Detainee Anik Kumar said that Abdul Aziz and his brother Sajid, the owner of Moaz Telecom in Bhangar Pool area, gave him a birth certificate in exchange of two and a half thousand rupees. On June 14, when he went to Habiganj Municipality to verify the birth certificate, after seeing the photocopy, Mayor Salim wanted to see the original document. If in doubt after seeing the original paper, ask other municipal officials to verify it. They verified that the seal and certificate were fake. Anik was arrested at this time. When the matter was reported to the police, the police came and took Anik into custody. According to Anik’s confession, Abdul Aziz was arrested from his shop Muaz Telecom and after searching, he recovered the documents prepared with the seals of various government officials, public representatives.
Aziz told the police interrogation that he had given documents to people by forging the signatures of various MPs, ministers and police. He got money in return. Sajid, a member of the gang, fled on sensing the presence of the police. Municipal employee Sanitary Inspector Avni Kumar Das became plaintiff and filed a case against them at Sadar Police Station at around 12:00 PM on June 14.
The case officer SI Rubel Dash said that two people were arrested during the raid. The seal is seized. A remand application has been made against them. Remand will reveal more mysteries and even those involved will be brought to justice.
