Municipal Awami League General Secretary Md.Shamsul Islam has received the nomination of Awami League in the Bandarban Municipality by-election.His name was finalized at the central meeting of Awami League’s Parliamentary Nomination Board on Friday (June 09) night.Board President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting of the Parliamentary Nomination Board. According to the sources,5 candidates of Awami League collected the party nomination form and submitted it to the district Awami League nomination committee to get the post of mayor in the by-election of Bandarban municipality.After the nomination committee verified the names of Md.Shamsul Islam,Mozammel Haque Bahadur and Sourav Dash Shakhar,a list was prepared and the proposal was sent to the Central Committee of the Awami League. Last Friday Awami League’s Parliamentary Nomination Board meeting finalized the name of municipal Awami League general secretary Shamsul Islam for the post of mayor in the by-election of Bandarban municipality.Meanwhile,As the name of Samsul Islam has been finalized for the post of mayor in the municipal by-election, there is joy among party leaders and many congratulated the nominated mayor Md.Samsul Islam.On April 15, the mayor of Bandarban municipality Mohammad Islam Bebi died while undergoing treatment and the post of mayor of the municipality became vacant.
