Adviser to BNP Chairperson and convener of Dhaka Metropolitan South Abdus Salam said that the government is not afraid of the people of the country but is afraid of the outside world. Fearing sanctions, the government is reeling from the threat of losing power. He said that the government did not take into account the demands of the people and their cries for restoration of democracy. Because they are not elected by the people. But when the outside world is pressuring the country to return the democracy and voting rights, the government has lost its head.

He said these things while addressing a discussion meeting and food distribution ceremony on the occasion of the 42nd martyrdom anniversary of the late President and BNP founding chairman Ziaur Rahman at Gopi Bagh in the capital on Sunday (June 11) afternoon. Engineer Ishrak Hossain, a member of BNP’s international affairs committee, presided over it.

Abdus Salam said that the government is making fun of people’s suffering. No electricity, dollar crisis, no money in the bank. 42 percent of the declared budget is subsidy. Even then, the arrogance of the government does not decrease. This government is a shameless government.

He also said that 14 years of this government have been spent only by looting and suppressing BNP leaders and activists. If they had spent the time they spent suppressing BNP for the country, it would have benefited the nation immensely. When Awami League came to power, it became desperate to eliminate opposition parties and opinions. Because, if the opposition party and freedom of expression, they will not be able to loot.

In the President’s speech, Ishrak said that the people of the country have taken an oath that we will not leave the streets until the people get back the right to vote and democracy is restored. BNP does not believe in dark politics of coming to power. BNP has always come to power through free and fair elections.

He also said that the entire nation has united against this tyrannical dictator. This government has turned the country into a bottomless basket. Those brokers who will support this Awami League which is destroying the country and will indulge in the conspiracy of Andolan Nasat will be tried on the soil of Bengal.
