‘Awami League and democracy do not go together’
Dhaka/
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has commented that the government wants to take public opinion in a different direction by talking about dialogue. He said, Awami League and democracy do not go together. They just lie. There is no alternative to non-partisan neutral government during elections. So resign first. Then we will see how to do that (caretaker government). People of the country know that. Today our fight is not to take BNP to power. We are fighting to establish people’s voting rights. The people of the whole country are unitedly participating in our struggle today.
He said these things in the speech of the chief guest at a discussion meeting on Thursday afternoon.

In the speech of the chief guest, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that even in the 52 years of independence of the country, we have not been able to create a system of peaceful transfer of power. However, the most democratic-minded leader in the country’s political history is Begum Khaleda Zia; Who rose from housewife to state power and introduced parliamentary democracy. He established a system of caretaker government based on the opinions of all. Because people are the most important thing to him. He didn’t care about the team. But in 2011, Sheikh Hasina canceled the provisions of caretaker government. Then National leader Begum Khaleda Zia said in a press conference at Gulshan office that day, the country was pushed towards uncertainty and conflict.
He said, today I will say – I know why we lack courage. Let us stand boldly where we are. Today, say a caretaker government, say restoration of democracy, everything must be achieved with courage. Today the crisis is difficult. It is unfortunate for us as a nation that we have not yet been able to unite. Democracy has not been practiced here since the partition of Pakistan. Time and again democracy has stumbled.
BNP Secretary General said that the party which is in power today, they repeatedly talk about democracy. But democracy has been repeatedly killed by that party. Democracy was in our marrow, which was the spirit of our great freedom struggle. But Awami League has taken away all democratic rights one by one. They imposed emergency, martial law, and finally the Baxal.
BNP Secretary General said, today in the politics of the country, one party does not trust another party. That is why four national elections have been held in the country under the caretaker government, which has been most acceptable to the people of the country. Even after 52 years of independence, we are still struggling with the process of devolution.
Regarding electricity, Mirza Fakhrul said that they have to sell the electricity by ferry. So there is no electricity for 3 hours. Hospital services are being disrupted. Agriculture cannot be irrigated. Everyone is paying the bill. So where did the money go? They cannot bring coal. Actually they just lie. They have no money, no dollar. They should be accountable to the nation. There is no load shedding in West Bengal. So why couldn’t we spend billions of dollars to do it?
