Two Chhatra League leaders were injured in an attack by DB police at a trade fair organized at Newfield ground in the city. Chhatra League activists protested in front of Sadar police station regarding this incident. Chhatra League President Alamgir (24) and Chhatra League leader Tajul Islam (22) of Ward No. 9 were treated at Sadar Hospital. Apart from this, a disabled youth named Indrajit was injured.

It is known that 4/5 policemen including Constable Al Amin, Suman Singh of the District Intelligence Branch went to the fair on a motorcycle at around 8 pm last Thursday. After going there, the lessee demands payment from them while parking the motorcycle. At that time they introduced themselves as policemen. At one point they had an argument with the tenants. Later they attacked BCL leaders and activists without finding the lessee. Panicked fair goers started running. On receiving the information, a group of police from Sadar police station went to the spot and brought the situation under control. At around 10:00 PM, BCL leaders protested in front of the police station. Later, BCL general secretary Robin and senior leaders sat at Sadar police station and after two hours of discussion, the matter was resolved with the intervention of DB OC Safiqul Islam and Sadar OC Golam Mortuza.
