Srimangal fruit market full of mau mau smell

Srimangal in Moulvibazar is called the capital of tea. Apart from tea, pineapple, lemon, litchi, mango, jam and kathal grown in the hills of Srimangal are famous throughout the country.

During the month of Jaishta, ripe fruits of various local varieties are available in the fruit market. Srimangal’s fruit market is full of aromas of various types of ripe fruits.

pineapple-
Juicy fruit pineapples are available in Moulvibazar district for twelve months, but the pineapples that come together during this time have a different taste and smell. Current pineapples are seasonal pineapples. Pineapples grown in different gardens of Srimangal are being sold from 40 taka to 100 taka per hali. Large sized pineapples are being sold at Rs 120 to 180 per hali.
lychee-
The litchi that is produced in Srimangal and Kamalganj has ended 15 days ago. At present, the litchis that are being sold in the various fruit markets of the district including Srimangal are collected from other places of the country including Rajshahi-Dinajpur. Locally grown litchis are selling between Tk 150 to Tk 200 per 100, but imported litchi are selling at Tk 350 to Tk 400 per 100.
wood
Moulvibazar district is famous all over the country for Kathal. The wood that grows in the hills and hills of Juri, Baralekha, Kulaura, Kamalganj and Srimangal. They are very sweet and juicy. Kathal grown in Moulvibazar district is being sold in different districts of the country to meet the demand of the local market. According to the retail size in the market, each kathal is being sold from Tk 30 to Tk 300.
Mango
Locally grown mangoes are almost exhausted but now mangoes grown in different parts of the country including Rajshahi are available in the market. Local mangoes were sold at 50 to 100 taka per kg. At present, imported mangoes are being sold at the rate of Tk 60 to Tk 120 per kg.
jam-
Importing jam is not necessary. Locally grown jam is sold in the local market. This satisfies the demand. Jam is being sold at Tk 80 to Tk 120 per kg.
banana
Hill Banana The various hills of Srimangal produce a lot of bananas. Locally grown bananas are sold through traders. From here, the retailers collect the bananas and sell them in the market and various shops. In Srimangal, sapari, champa, jara, jewa, longi, anaji (green plantain), aitra (beech plantain), locally grown sea plantain, and a type of red champlan grown in the hills are being sold in the market. Bananas are being sold from Tk 10 to Tk 80 per banana depending on the variety.
Banana: The yield of banana has also been good this season.
lemon-
Although lemon production is good in Srimangal, the farmers are getting very low prices during the peak season. Lemons are currently sold at 5 taka to 15/20 taka retail, but wholesale 1000 pieces of lemon are sold at 700 to 800 taka, so the farmers are in trouble.
