Janaza of Shibpur Upazila Parishad Chairman Harunur Rashid Khan who died due to gunshot wounds has been held. Bir muktijoddha Harunur Rashid Khan (75), Chairman of Shibpur Upazila Parishad of Narsingdi and former president of Upazila Awami League died under treatment 3 months after being shot. He died on Wednesday (May 31) afternoon at Evercare Hospital in the capital. Janaza prayers were held at Majlishpur of Harunur Rashid Khan’s home village of Bari Upazila on Thursday, June 1. Narsingdi-2 Palash MP Anwarul Ashraf Khan Dilip, nephew of Harunur Rashid Khan, son Aminur Rashid Khan Tapas and nephew former MP Shaheed Rabiul Awal Khan Kiran’s son Fazle Rabbi Khan gave brief speeches on behalf of the family.Shibpur MP Zahirul Haque Bhuya Mohan, Narsingdi Deputy Commissioner Abu Naeem Mohammad Maruf Khan, Narsingdi District Awami League President GM Taleb Hossain, Shibpur Former MP Sirajul Islam Mollah, Narsingdi District Council Chairman Monir Hossain, Narsingdi Superintendent of Police Kazi Ashraful Azim, Former MP Kamrul Ashraf Khan Poton, District Awami League Finance Secretary Alhaj Mahfuzul Haque Tipu,District BNP Member Secretary Manjur Elahi, Narsingdi District Anti-Corruption Committee General Secretary Bashirul Islam Bashir, Palash Upazila Parishad Chairman Syed Jabed Hossain, former Upazila Chairman Arif Ul Islam Mridha etc. Before the funeral prayers, Harunur Rashid Khan was given state honors. Shibpur Upazila Acting Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Sharif Mohammad Helal Uddin conferred the national status. Senior politician Harunur Rashid Khan was seriously injured by miscreants at his residence in Upazila Sadar on the morning of 25 February. After the funeral, Harunur Rashid Khan’s body was sent to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. He will be buried in the family cemetery after the post-mortem.
