Sylhet divisional tanker workers’ union and Malik Sramik Parishad have started a protest over the attack in ‘Chatra League identity’ for not giving gas to cars at Pirerbazar on Sylhet-Tamabil highway.

On Wednesday, the leaders of the workers’ union and owners of the workers’ union of Tangkali presented a memorandum on 6 demands to the Sylhet district commissioner. In the morning, they had a showdown with about three hundred vehicles from Sobhanighat area of the city to Humayun Rashid Chattar.

Monir Hossain, president of Sylhet divisional tanker union, said that we have submitted 6 written demands to the deputy commissioner for the attack on the filling station. They are – Ensuring the safety of petrol pumps and CNG filling stations, ensuring the safety of owners and workers, ensuring the peace of terrorists, withdrawing the OC of Shahparan police station, stopping extortion from filling stations and tankalries. If these demands are not met, petrol pumps, CNG stations, Tankoli AP will observe strike from 6 am next Sunday.

Zubair Ahmad Chowdhury, the president of Sylhet divisional tankery owner labor council, said that those involved in this incident should be brought to justice quickly. If the demands are not met, a strike has been announced from 6 am next Sunday.

The attack took place on the morning of May 26 at R Rahman and Sons filling station in Pirerbazar on the Sylhet-Tamabil highway. At that time, the complaint came up – Some miscreants attacked the station’s nozzlemen Raju and Badshah because they did not supply gas at the Ar Rahman & Sons filling station owned by the brave freedom fighter Mujibur Rahman. The assailants were 6-7 in number. They want to forcefully break the cereal and take gas by introducing themselves as ‘student league workers’. At that time, when the responsible employees obstructed, they were attacked. The scene of the beating and the faces of the assailants are recorded in the CCTV footage.
