Officials of the Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) held a special general meeting in Ahmedabad. The meeting on Saturday discussed the World Cup to be held in India in October-November, Asia Cup, Test Championship final and India’s white ball series against Afghanistan.
According to news media Cricbuzz, a five-member committee will be formed to decide on the schedule and venue of the World Cup. The committee will be announced soon after the IPL ends. The BCCI said the World Cup venue will be announced during the World Test Championship finals at The Oval on June 7-11.
BCCI Secretary Jai Shah said the World Cup schedule will also be announced through a media event during the Test Championship final. Besides, he also said that the ACC members will take a decision on the Asia Cup in a meeting on Sunday.
Earlier, the media reported that the upcoming World Cup may start on October 5. The matches will be held at 11 venues. Like the opening match, the final will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad with a capacity of over 100,000 spectators.
