Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal said to the candidates in an exchange meeting with the candidates of Barisal City Corporation that there is a word called Digilance, they will keep their Bengali under observation. If someone is doing something wrong, you have to try to prevent it. Your Polling Agent will complain to the Presiding Officer. Strict action will be taken against the presiding officer if he neglects his duty.

He said, you (candidates) also have to perform your duties well. Everyone should be awake on polling day. I am not saying that the election will be good only by our efforts. Equally you must have that effort. It will not be done by law enforcement alone. It should be a concerted effort.

CEC spoke in the Chief Guest’s speech at the meeting organized by the Returning Officer’s office on Saturday night in the hall of Barisal District Art Academy.

The chief election commissioner heard the complaints of the candidates and took various suggestions in the meeting.

Habibul Awal also said that the presiding officers will perform their duties properly, an example of which is the Gazipur city election. The presiding officers performed their duties fairly well. If complaints come to us that voters could not go to the center, could not vote, there were Mastans in the center, they resisted them, then our election will be in question. The polling agents that you (candidates) will have inside must also be equally resisted. If you show power and say I have to vote, then democracy is destroyed. If elected, people will not have support. Therefore, you will be urged to hold democracy and try to develop it in a healthy way.

Meanwhile, the Chief Election Commissioner announced that there will be CC cameras in all the polling stations of Barisal.
