BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir commented that the new visa policy of the United States is an echo of the long-standing demand of the people of Bangladesh for free and fair elections.

He made this comment in a statement on Friday after the announcement of the new visa policy of the United States. Mirza Fakhrul has been under treatment in a private hospital since May 23 due to corona.

In the statement, he said, to ensure all processes to organize the upcoming National Assembly elections in a free, fair, participatory and acceptable manner. At the same time, the United States government stands against any policy of violent suppression of vote rigging, voter intimidation, freedom of peaceful assembly and exercise of rights. This is a clear echo of the long-standing demand of the people of Bangladesh for free and fair elections.

Mirza Fakhrul said, BNP thinks that the demand of the democracy-loving people of Bangladesh including BNP for a long time has been clearly reflected in this US visa policy.

“We once again demand that this unelected fascist government, realizing its rejected status at home and abroad, resigns immediately and declares the non-voting National Parliament null and void.”

BNP Secretary General said that this is the only way to get rid of the ongoing political, economic, social and national crisis.
