Teachers jobs on fake certificates, orders to refund half a million rupees

The Ministry of Education has ordered seven teachers with fake certificates in Narail to return half a million taka to the government treasury. They worked in various educational institutions under fake certificates and enjoyed government salaries and allowances of half a crore.

Recently, this instruction has been given in a letter signed by the Assistant Secretary of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education, Salim Shikder.

According to the letter, the Department of Inspection and Audit has identified fake certificates of 678 teachers and employees across the country. On February 8 of this year, the list of fake certificates of 678 people has been finalized after verifying the authenticity of the certificates of the accused teaching staff in coordination with the chief representative of the certificate issuing office.

Among the 678 fake certificate holders, 7 teachers of Narail have illegally received 49 lakh 85 thousand 815 taka from the government.

Among them, Narail Sadar Upazila Maijpara University Lecturer (Secretarial Science and Office Management) Abdus Sabur Sheikh 11 lakh 70 thousand 320 Taka, Uzirpur Secondary School Assistant (Islamic Religion) Teacher Md. Moniruzzaman Tk 5 lakh 10 thousand 770, Gobra Pragti Secondary School Assistant Teacher (Society) Syeda Habiba Alam Tk 3 lakh 16 thousand 750 and Devbhog Lower Secondary Girls School Assistant Teacher (Arabic) Mustahid Al Amin took Tk 3 lakh 58 thousand 740.

Kalia Upazila JA Chowdhury Secondary School computer teacher Waliur Rahman Chowdhury 16 lakh 52 thousand 345 taka, Adarsh Sammilani High School Assistant (Physical Education) teacher Rezbi Sultana 9 lakh 76 thousand 890 taka and Khamar Parkkhali Secondary School assistant (Islam religion) teacher Abul Hasan ( It is said in the letter that he has enjoyed the said amount, not belonging to MPO.

On the ground investigation, it has been found that 5 out of 7 teachers with fake certificates in Narail have continued teaching as before in their own institutions. On the other hand, Adarsh Sammilani High School Assistant (Physical Education) teacher Rejbi Sultana has already been dismissed from service based on the complaint.

On the other hand, Mofizul Islam, acting headmaster of that school, confirmed that his salary and allowances have already been deposited in the government treasury. Besides, the assistant teacher (Islam) of Khamar Parkkhali Secondary School, Abul Hasan, has been dismissed from the institution based on the previous audit complaint of the Ministry of Education, confirmed the headmaster of that school, Mallik Akbar Ali.

The Ministry of Education has ordered the dismissal of 78 teachers with fake certificates working in various schools and colleges. At the same time, the Department of Secondary and Higher Education has been directed to close their MPOs and recover lakhs of rupees illegally spent on MPOs from the government exchequer.

The ministry has asked to cancel retirement benefits of teachers who have retired with fake certificates. Those who have voluntarily retired or absconded from service have been asked to collect the money through the Principal and Headmaster.

And the heads of the institutions have been asked to file a criminal case against the fake certificate holders in the letter. The Ministry of Education has also directed the department to take action against those involved in the recruitment of teachers and staff with fake certificates.

District Education Officer Haider Ali said, Narail has not yet received the office order of teachers with fake certificates. Action will be taken as per the instructions after the order.
