There has been a severe deterioration of law and order in Baniachang upazila. After 6 people were killed in riots in April, a young man named Moinul Islam (25) was killed in a clash between uncle and nephew. Another 10 people were injured.
The incident took place in Tupiazuri village of Mandari Union No. 13 of the upazila last Monday afternoon. The deceased youth is the son of Nurul Islam of the village. Meanwhile, one after another, the fear has spread among the local residents.
It is known that when Tajul Islam protested against the installation of a sanitary latrine on the public road by his own brother Nurul Islam, there was an argument between the two sides. At one point, armed with native weapons, they clashed. When Moinul was stabbed in the chest by uncle Tajul Islam’s fist, he died on the way to Dhaka from Habiganj.
Meanwhile, hearing the news of his death, people fled to Sadar Hospital for treatment.
Ajay Chandra Dev, officer-in-charge of Baniachong police station, said that no case has been filed yet. However, the operation to nab the accused continues.
