The police recovered the hanging body of a teenage maid named Najma Begum (18) with a veil wrapped around her neck in Jagannathpur of Sunamganj. The incident took place on Sunday (21 May) at 10:30 am in Parargaon village of Kalkalia Union of the upazila.

Deceased Najma Begum is the daughter of deceased Warich Mia of Gajinagar village of Shantiganj police station.

According to local and police sources, the deceased Nazma Begum’s elder sister worked in Abdus Salam’s house in Parargaon village. As Nazma’s elder sister got married, Nazma’s mother gave Nazma Begum to work in Abdus Salam’s house for the last two months.

SI Sabbir Ahmad of Jagannathpur police station said that Najma Begum’s body was recovered with a veil attached to the shower of the bathroom of Abdus Salam’s residence after receiving the information. The body has been sent to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Jagannathpur police station Mizanur Rahman said that the body was recovered and sent to the morgue for post-mortem. The cause of death is yet to be ascertained.
