Harassment of Habiganj Sadar Hospital nurse, protest and human chain
Jewel Chowdhury, Habiganj Representative/
Habiganj has become hot due to the protest of molestation and looting of Nurse Sabita Rani in Habiganj 250 Bed Sadar Modern Hospital. The officials and employees of the hospital held a human chain and protest march demanding the arrest of the attackers and exemplary punishment.
A protest march was taken out after the human chain at the premises of Habiganj Sadar Modern Hospital on Sunday afternoon. The procession started from the hospital premises and ended in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Later, the procession ended with the assurance of the police.
In a short speech at the end of the human chain, the speakers said that on May 1, a young man entered Nurse Savita Rani’s house in the water tank area of the city, put a knife to her throat and molested her with gold chains, earrings and cash. Which is clearly caught in the CCTV footage. The day after the incident on May 2, Savita Rani’s husband Chayan Barai filed a written complaint at Habiganj Sadar Model Police Station. But even after 20 days of the incident, the police could not arrest the accused. The family is worried. In view of this, the officials and employees of the hospital organized a human chain and protest march.
The speakers also said that if the attacker is not arrested within the next 72 hours, they warned of a strike.
Savita Rani, the victim of the attack, said that my house is in another district. I am living in this district because of my job. But all of a sudden, I and my family were shocked. Even after 20 days of the incident, the police could not arrest the accused. That is why we suffer from insecurity. Therefore, I along with our colleagues demand that the person who assaulted and molested me be arrested immediately and brought under the law. According to a source, there is a mystery about this incident. If the police do a proper investigation, the real secret will come out.
Habiganj Sadar Model Police Station (OC) Golam Mortuza said that a case has been registered in the police station. The assailant was identified from the CCTV footage. Soon he will be arrested and brought under the law. No one will be exempt from crime.
