The US Embassy has advised US citizens to exercise caution in Bangladesh around the upcoming parliamentary elections. On Sunday afternoon, the US Embassy in Dhaka gave the warning advice.

The warning titled ‘Demonstration Alert’ says that the next general election in Bangladesh will be held before or around January 2024. Political party rallies and other election activities have already started in view of that election. As the date of general elections approaches, political rallies and protest programs are likely to increase. In view of such a situation, US citizens in Bangladesh should exercise caution.

It also said that US citizens should remember that peaceful protests can turn violent at any time, turning into violence at any moment. In this situation, they should avoid places of large gatherings and demonstrations. Personal security plans should be reviewed. Be aware of local events and surrounding environmental conditions and keep an eye on media reports.

The warning from the US Embassy also mentions the measures to be taken by the citizens of the country. These are-

* Keeping an eye on local media reports,
* Be careful and
* Always carry a charged mobile phone for emergency communication.
