Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that Hajjatra has become much easier with e-Hajj management. He said this at the opening ceremony of this year’s Hajj program at the capital’s Ashkona Hajj Camp on Friday afternoon.

The Prime Minister said that Hajj has become much easier due to e-Haj management. This year, 100% of Hajj pilgrims will be able to complete Saudi Arabian immigration at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

Sheikh Hasina said that the current government is working with the aim that the development of the country should continue and people should live with dignity.

He said that Bangabandhu had arranged to send Haj at a small cost. Immediately after independence, Bangabandhu requested the King of Saudi, that the people of the country can go for Hajj. The Saudi king also arranged.

The head of the government said that the father took measures to ensure that the Hajj system was done properly when he came to the government. It was a war-torn country at that time. No reserve money, no currency notes, no food in Gola. He made arrangements so that people can perform Hajj at a low cost. Hizbul arranged for Hajj by purchasing a ship called Bahar. But after 75 Ziaur Rahman came to power and turned that ship into a pleasure boat. There was no Hajj journey then. It’s sad.

Bangabandhukanya said, after overcoming all the mismanagement of BNP-Jamaat period, Awami League government has brought radical changes in Hajj management. Currently we have arranged e-Hajj. Visa complications are eliminated. Flight disasters are not so common now. Hajj management has also become much easier. Besides, pre-registration, registration refund, Makkah Road Service, e-Health, e-Visa can all be done online now.

He also said that religion is a sacred thing. Sacred religion should not be used as a political tool. We have involved the clerics in the anti-terrorist program. Today, Bangladesh is known worldwide as a model of communal harmony.

State Minister for Religion Faridul Haque Khan attended the event as special guests – State Minister for Private Aviation and Tourism Mahbub Ali, Member of Parliament Habib Hasan, Religious Affairs Officer Kazi Enamul Hasan NDC, Saudi Ambassador to Dhaka Isa Bin Yusuf Al Duhailan and others.

Earlier, Sheikh Hasina attended the event in the morning. It is known that the first flight of Haj pilgrims in the current Haj season will start at 4:30 PM local time on May 21. Bangladesh Biman will operate a total of 160 dedicated flights in pre-Hajj flights this year. The first flight BG 3001 will depart from Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to Jeddah at the scheduled time of 21st May at 4:15 PM.

The flight will land at Jeddah Airport at 7:30 am local time on the same day. Biman’s pre-Hajj flight will end on June 22.

This year, 1 lakh 27 thousand 198 pilgrims from Bangladesh have received permission to perform the holy Hajj in Saudi Arabia. Biman Bangladesh Airlines will transport 50 percent of Haj pilgrims i.e. 63 thousand 599 people. The first Hajj flight of the current Hajj season will start from May 21.
