ASP Sohail was dismissed in his wife’s dowry case

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sohail Uddin has been temporarily dismissed (suspended) from the job in a dowry case filed by his wife. He was working in Roumari Circle of Kurigram.

On Tuesday, his dismissal from Discipline-2 Branch of the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs was announced through a notification. The notification was issued on the website of the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday.

According to the notification, his wife Rifat Jahan filed a case against the Assistant Superintendent of Police Sohel Uddin of Kurigram District’s Roumari Circle in the Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court of Dhaka in 2018 under the Dowry Prevention Act. He surrendered and got bail in that case on October 2, 2022. Later, on November 10, 2022, the court framed charges against her in this case under Section 3 of the Dowry Prevention Act, 2018. Therefore, according to the service rules, he was temporarily dismissed by order of the President.

The notification further states that Sohail Uddin will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per Bangladesh Service Rules (BSR) Part-1 Rule-71. This order issued in public interest will be effective from the date of taking bail against him. If you have already received full salary and allowance, it should be adjusted.

Sohel Uddin, assistant superintendent of police of Roumari circle, called several times on his mobile phone to inquire about this, but he did not receive. However, a police officer said that he (Sohail Uddin) is currently not at work. is in training.
