Sylhet district BNP condemnation and protest

Shamim Majumdar, former campaign secretary of Sylhet metropolis BNP, general secretary of Ward No. 27 Nazrul Islam, BNP member of Ward No. 25, arrested from Sylhet. Badrul Islam, Metropolitan Youth Dal leader and former Co-Organizing Secretary of Mahanagar Chhatra Dal, Abdus Salam Tipu, Youth Dal leader Parvez Khan Jewel, Mahanagar Chhatra Dal joint general secretary Abul Hossain, Sadar Upazila Jubo Dal member Raju Ahmed, Tajpur Degree College Chhatra Dal convenor Junayed Sylhet district BNP has demanded unconditional release and withdrawal of conspiracy case against party leaders including Hossain, Chhatra Dal leaders Kamrul Hasan, Md Hafizur and Saiful Islam Sohag, Sadar Upazila Youth Dal joint convener Alibur Rahman Ali, Kuchai Union Youth Dal General Secretary Chaif Ahmad, Mirza Habib and Emon. President Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury and General Secretary Advocate Emran Ahmad Chowdhury.

BNP leaders made this claim in a statement sent to the media on Thursday.

They also expressed their concern about the fact that BNP leader living in America, former joint secretary of Sylhet Mahanagar Chhatra Dal, Mostakur Rahman Rumon, was denied bail and sent to jail when he went to appear in court in a false and fabricated case while respecting the law.

In a statement, the district BNP leaders said, “During the regime of the current authoritarian Awami fascist government, the trend of arresting the leaders and activists of BNP and affiliated organizations and filing false cases in their name and sending them to jail by denying them bail has now become more intense. BNP leaders and activists are now living a miserable life in fear, they have become completely calm. False and absent cases filed against BNP leaders and workers are a continuation of the ongoing terrible misrule. The ongoing democratic movement cannot be stopped by attacks and lawsuits.” Press release
