Body of former BGB member recovered from pond in Habiganj

The police recovered the body of a former BGB member named Sheikh Anwar Hossain (45) from a pond on the west side of Amir Chan Complex on Badiuzzaman Khan road in Habiganj city.
Local people informed the police after seeing the body of the person floating in the pond last Monday morning. The police went to the spot and recovered the body of the dead person from the pond and sent it to Habiganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The deceased is Sheikh Anwar Hossain, son of deceased Araj Ullah Nanu Mia, a resident of Itna police station in Kishoreganj district.
It is known that the deceased was infected with malaria about 15 years ago when he was a BGB member. Since then he was mentally unstable. Because of this he was dismissed from the job. Since then, he used to live on rent with his wife and children in different areas of Habiganj city. His in-laws are in Makrampur Union of Baniachong Upazila. A few days ago his wife died of cancer. This made him more mentally broken. At one point he left home and stayed in shrines. Recently, he was seen reaching out to people for money in different areas of the city. Locals said that the deceased often used to bathe in that pond. It is believed that Satar died by drowning.
Sadar police station OC Golam Mortuza said that the body was sent to Sadar hospital morgue for autopsy. After the autopsy, the body was handed over to the family.
