BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the oppressed workers in different parts of the world including Bangladesh are deprived of their justice and rights.

He said this in a statement sent to the media on the occasion of May Day on Sunday afternoon.

On the occasion of the Great May Day, the Secretary General of BNP extended his sincere greetings and congratulations to all the hardworking people of Bangladesh and the world and wished them happiness, peace and prosperity.

He said, May Day is an important historical day in world history. A bloody history was written in May 1886 in the city of Chicago in America in the struggle for workers’ fair demands and labor rights. The workers’ just right to 8 hours of work per day was recognized all over the world on the bloody path of self-sacrifice of protesting workers against exploitation and deprivation.

Mirza Fakhrul said, our relationship with all working people is very close. We are always conscious and determined to protect their rights and dignity. We are determined to ensure the fair rights of the working people who are the flag bearers of social progress. Bangladesh Nationalist Party-BNP has always played an important role in protecting the interests of workers. In the future also we will work relentlessly for the welfare of working people. Great May Day is a historically significant day. The development of world civilization and new horizons of science and technology unfolded through the sweat of the working people. The historic contribution of labor is what has fueled the global economy. This year’s theme for May Day is ‘Safe and healthy working environment should be a fundamental principle and right of the workplace’ – to implement this principle on May Day, it is necessary to restore democracy. But even today oppressed workers in different parts of the world including Bangladesh are deprived of their justice and rights.

He also said that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party-BNP has always fought uncompromisingly for the dignity of labor and respect for the fair demands of workers. This party has never backed down from its promises to protect and secure the rights of the working people.

On this great day, this BNP leader called upon everyone to be responsible and proactive in protecting the interests of the workers.
