Dhanbari bus-autorickshaw collision, 4 including schoolgirls killed

Four persons, including a schoolgirl, were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a battery-operated auto-rickshaw in Tangail’s Dhanbari upazila.
Three students were injured in the incident on the Tangail-Jamalpur regional highway in the Baghil area of the upazila around 1:15 p.m. today. All the injured were passengers of the autorickshaw.
The deceased are- Abdul Hakim (45) son of Niyat Ali of Norilya village of Dhopakhali union of Dhanbari upazila, Mostafa (53) son of Jalal Mia of Hadira village of the same upazila, Urmi Akhtar, daughter of Abul Kalam of Baghil village and seventh grade student of Vaighat High School and Urmi’s relative Beethi Akhtar Munni. .
Police and locals said that around 1:30 PM, a battery-powered autorickshaw collided with a Dhaka-bound TS Paribahan bus (Dhaka Metro-B-15-9322) on the Tangail-Jamalpur regional highway in Baghil area. This caused the autorickshaw to twist. Hakeem and autorickshaw driver Mustafa died on the spot. Five people including four schoolgirls were injured. After they were rescued and taken to Madhupur Upazila Health Complex, doctors sent them to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Urmi died on the way there. Beethi Akhter Munni died during treatment after being taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Three other injured students are undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhanbari Police Station HM Jasim Uddin confirmed the truth of the incident.
