Bangladesh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, BPM (Bar) PPM said that the tourism sector of the whole country, including Sylhet, is developing. Along with this, the capacity of tourist police is increasing. Once upon a time there was no tourist police, the duties were performed by the district police. Hon’ble Prime Minister Tourist Police. The number and capacity of tourist police will be increased. Besides, we are ready to face any challenge.

He said this while interacting with reporters at Rikabibazar Sylhet District Police Lines on Saturday (April 29) noon.

The IGP also said that the Bangladesh Police has been successfully performing its duties in controlling law and order. We are ready to face any challenge in maintaining law and order in elections. We have that manpower, training. Bangladesh Police has the ability to deal with any attempt to break law and order. Bangladesh Police has experience and training to organize elections. During the election we work under the Election Commission. Bangladesh Police will perform the duties given by the Election Commission during the election.

Regarding the recent fire incidents across the country, the IGP said, we have strict intelligence surveillance to prevent all untoward incidents before the elections. Besides, the police has continued the investigation of these fires. If anyone is involved in these incidents, strict action will be taken against him, he said.

He said, following the Prime Minister’s policy of zero tolerance against militancy and terrorism, the police has been able to identify militancy and terrorism with everyone.

Before interacting with journalists, the IGP was accorded a guard of honor when he reached the district police lines at 11:30 am. Later, at 12 noon, IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun exchanged views with the OCs of all police stations of Sylhet division.
