Akhaura/Brahmanbaria/Representative/
Law Minister Anisul Haque said that there will be constitutional elections in Bangladesh, there will be no independent government or caretaker government. The Election Commission will make the selection. Inshallah there will be a fair and impartial election.
He said these things in response to a question from journalists at a staff meeting organized by Upazila Awami League at Akhaura Upazila Parishad Auditorium on Saturday afternoon.
The law minister said that once there was a caretaker government for three months before the elections. When a case was filed in the High Court regarding the legitimacy of that caretaker government, the High Court ruled that the caretaker government has no legitimacy, it is illegal. Later, when it went to the Appellate Division, the Appellate Division also ruled that the caretaker government was invalid. It was decided in the parliament that the caretaker government system was canceled and the elections were held according to the 1972 constitution and Bangladesh would continue. Now Bangladesh is running accordingly. Next election will be accordingly.
In response to BNP Secretary General’s comment that there is no rule of law in the country, Anisul Haque said, ‘On August 15, 1975, the father of the nation was killed along with his family. Khandaker Mostak and Ziaur Rahman passed the law saying that those who were involved in this murder could not be prosecuted. In our time people have to obey what is in the law. Now there is rule of law in the country. No one can now say that there is no trial for murder. BNP could not prosecute Ziaur Rahman’s murder. In their mouth again the rule of law.
