In the case of murder of wife and mother-in-law in Nabiganj, life sentence for two people

The court sentenced two persons to life imprisonment and a fine of Tk. Habiganj learned extra session judge-1 court judge yesterday Monday afternoon. Azizul Haque gave this order. However, depending on their age, the maximum punishment for them is death sentence to life imprisonment. However, the plaintiff is not happy with the verdict.
Court clerk Syed Abdul Hadi Jewel and Strenographer Mukhlesh Mia said that on the night of May 13, 2018, Zakaria Ahmed Shubo and Taleb Mia went to the house of Akhlaq Chowdhury, a resident of London, in Sadllyapur village of Nabiganj upazila with the plan to rape his wife Rumi Begum. After going to that house, Taleb Mia first called Mala Begum, mother of the expatriate, as grandmother and asked her to open the gate. After opening the gate, Taleb went inside with Mia. When Mala Begum asked to know the identity of the boy, she hit Shubo Mala with a dagger in her hand. When Mala Begum ran into the house, the two of them tied her with a veil and started hitting her with daggers. Rumi Begum, the housewife who was standing next to him, started shouting too. At this time, Shubo Rumi also hit Begum with a dagger. Rumi Begum ran out of the house and Taleb Mia also hit her. At the time of the incident, there was a meeting at the house of the Union Parishad member next to that house. From there, people heard the screams and found two dead bodies. When the police arrested Taleb Mia and Zakaria Ahmed Shubo while working to unravel the mystery of this incident, they gave a statement in the court of the then Senior Judicial Magistrate Sampa Begum of Habiganj. Later Rumi Begum’s brother Nazrul Islam filed a murder case at Nabiganj police station. Habibur Rahman, OC of Nabiganj police station investigated the case first. Later, Habiganj DB OC Shah Alam filed the charge sheet on August 11, 2018. The learned court gave this verdict on Monday after hearing the testimony of 31 out of 32 people and arguing.
While delivering the verdict, the learned judge termed the incident as inhuman and termed the crime of the accused as punishable by death. However, because of his young age, he gave a life sentence. The accused were present in the court when the verdict was announced.
Additional PP advocate Saleh Uddin Ahmed handled the case for the state. Convicted accused Taleb Hossain is son of Amir Hossain of Amoil village of Nabiganj upazila and Zakaria Ahmed is son of Hafizur Rahman of Khagawra village of Shubo Baniachong upazila. The accused were present in the court during the verdict. They were later sent to jail on warrants.
