People’s lives have become hell: Colonel Oli
Dhaka/
Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) President Colonel (retd) Oli Ahmad Bir Bikram claimed that people’s lives have become hell.
He said that the price of everyday products is beyond the purchasing power of the people. So many are half-starved and starving for days. In short, people’s lives have become hell. There is no peace at home or abroad. How long will this situation last? Everyone has started coming down the streets today in the urge of life. Save the country from destruction by announcing the National Assembly elections under a caretaker government without wasting time.
He said these things at a sit-in program in front of the central office of the LDP at the capital’s East Panthapath on Saturday.
He said that Chhatra League and Jubo League are conducting weapons drills in universities, districts and upazilas. Bank money is constantly being smuggled and embezzled. No effective action is being taken by the government. On the other hand, the government has continued with false cases, attacks, harassment and torture against the leaders and activists of the opposition party.
Colonel Oli also said that the recent disgraceful incident in the High Court is against the spirit of the liberation war. The government is suppressing the voice of newspapers to cover up illegal activities. A case is being filed under the Digital Security Act in the name of editor and journalist. The government has set a precedent by arresting journalist Shamsuzzaman. In fact, strong opposition parties and media are essential for democracy.
LDP Secretary General Dr. Redwan Ahmed also spoke in the program under the chairmanship of Dr. Presidium member of LDP. Neyamul Bashir, Dr. Aurangzeb Belal, Advocate SM Morshed, Vice President Mahe Alam Chowdhury, Advisor Principal Mahbubur Rahman, Professor Mocha. Karima Khatun, Joint Secretary General Billal Hossain Miyaji, Legal Affairs Secretary Advocate Abul Hashem, Publicity Secretary Advocate Nilu and others.
