The dowry husband in Nabiganj has been sentenced to 3 years imprisonment by the learned women and child abuse tribunal 3 judge district and session judge SM Nasim Reza of Habiganj. The verdict was handed down on Wednesday afternoon. Along with this, a fine of 5 thousand taka, in default of payment, another 6 months imprisonment is given. Special PP Md. Mustufa Mia handled the case for the state. Sadikur Rahman was the defendant.

Peshkar Md Fazlu Mia said that Sizil Mia (48), son of deceased Anis Ulla of Samargaon village of Nabiganj upazila, beat up his wife Nazmin Akhtar Shabana and sent her to Pitralaya for demanding dowry of Tk 2 lakh. In this incident on March 25, 2019, Nazmin Akhtar filed a case at Nabiganj police station on April 10 of the same year as the plaintiff. Following the case, the police arrested the accused and sent him to court. After a long period of detention, the accused got bail on compromise terms. But as the case has not been settled after a long time passed, the judge gave this order yesterday after the testimony. Accused Sizil Mia was present during the verdict. He was later sent to jail on a warrant.
