At least six civilians have been killed and several injured in a suicide attack in the Afghan capital, Kabul. The explosion happened very close to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country.
Al Jazeera, citing the Afghan government, said its forces targeted the attacker, but the explosives he was carrying detonated, causing casualties.
Afghan Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Nafi Thakur tweeted on Monday that six civilians were killed in the blast. Many others were injured.
Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran said the suicide bomber was identified at a security checkpoint near the ministry. But even though he was killed, the explosion of explosives carried by him caused casualties.
Zadran also said that among the wounded were at least three members of the Taliban security forces.
