A youth named Farhad Khandkar (28) was shot dead in Natore. The murder took place late on Tuesday night in Haibatpur area of Nator Sadar Upazila.

The deceased Farhad Khandkar of the same area. Son of Maslur Uddin. Residents blocked the Natore-Dhaka highway on Wednesday morning to protest and demand justice. Later, when police and administration officials went to the spot and promised to prosecute those responsible, the locals lifted the blockade.

Nashim Ahmed, OC of Natore Sadar Police Station, said that on Tuesday morning, Farhad Khandkar left home for work. As he did not return home at night, his relatives searched in different areas. At one point, Farhad’s wife Lutfunnaha found Farhad’s body lying next to the Shaheed Minar in front of Haibatpur Government Primary School.

At that time the locals came forward with his shout. After receiving information on Wednesday morning, the police visited the spot and recovered the body.

The OC also said that initially it is believed that an unknown person shot Farhad Khandkar and ran away. He died on the spot. After the crime scene unit of CID from Rajshahi visited the spot, the police recovered the body and sent it to the mortuary of Nato Modern Sadar Hospital.

Natore Sadar Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police Sharmin Mahmuda Leni said that the police initially believe that there is an alien motive behind the murder.
