Mushfiqur’s century record match abandoned due to rain

Mushfiqur Rahim’s record-making century is Bangladesh’s record for the highest number of runs. The Tigers were chasing the dream of winning the series with a record of 349 runs in ODI cricket. But the match was eventually abandoned due to rain.

Bangladesh set a record of 349 runs for 6 wickets at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Monday with Mushfiqur Rahim’s century (100), Nazmul Hossain Shanto’s (73) and Liton Das’s (70) fifties. This is Bangladesh team’s highest run score in ODI cricket.

Earlier on Saturday, Bangladesh set a record of 338 runs against Ireland in the first ODI of the current series at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. The Tigers broke that record in a span of one day and created a new history.

Bangladesh lost the toss and batted first against Ireland at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Monday. Batting earlier, captain Tamim Iqbal returned to Sajghar after collecting 42 runs on the score board in 10 overs.

Tamim became the country’s first cricketer to reach the milestone of 15,000 runs in international cricket before returning to Sajghar with 25 runs off 31 balls.

After Tamim’s dismissal, Liton Kumar Das became the ninth cricketer from the country to reach the 2000 club in ODIs by completing his fifty.

Liton returned to Sajghar with the team’s 143 runs in 25.6 overs. Before that, he played a brilliant innings of 70 runs with the help of three fours and six sixes from 71 balls.

Shakib Al Hasan top scored with 93 runs for the team in the first ODI against Ireland on Saturday in a record 338 run average of 183 runs. Shakib could not take advantage of batting in the second match on Monday. On this day, he returned with 17 runs off 19 balls with two fours.

Nazmul Hossain Shanto could not stay on the wicket for long after Shakib got out. Shanto returned as the fourth batsman for the team’s 190 runs in 32.2 overs. Before that, he scored 73 runs off 77 balls with three fours and two sixes.

Tawhid Hriday left the field with regret despite batting brilliantly. After playing an innings of 92 runs against Ireland in the first ODI, Tawhid returned on Monday with a stormy batting of 49 runs. On this day, after playing his own innings with the help of four boundaries and a six, Hriday returned with a catch behind the wicket.

Yasir Ali returned with 7 runs from 7 balls after Hridoy was dismissed.

Mushfiqur Rahim completed the century with the help of 14 fours and 2 sixes in just 60 balls playing till the last ball of the innings. Thanks to his century, the Tigers made a record of 349 runs for 6 wickets.
