BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has warned that as the torture and oppression of BNP leaders and workers increases, the speed of the storm of protest will intensify.
BNP Secretary General said these things in a statement on Monday.
In the statement, he said, when the people of the country are disoriented by the increase in the price of daily necessities including gas, electricity and water, the government continues to arbitrarily torture and imprison BNP and opposition party leaders and ordinary people with lawsuits, assaults, arrests and remands. People of the country are also being prevented from personal or social events.
Mirza Fakhrul said that BNP leaders and activists across the country, including Netrakona, are being harassed in the name of searches. It seems that the country is now the ancestral property of Awami League. The present ruling group is engaged in a deep conspiracy to prolong their monopolistic rule by depriving the country of opposition.
He said, BNP is the most popular and largest political party in the country. To destroy this party and establish a one-man rule in the country, continuous efforts are being made to implement the goal by imprisoning the leaders and activists of BNP and its organs and affiliated organizations at all levels.
BNP Secretary General said that the authoritarian government has now realized that its life span has come to an end. Because of this, they have become reckless to kill the leaders and activists of opposition parties including BNP.
Mirza Fakhrul said that the arrested leaders were unjustly arrested because they were victims of political revenge of the government. He said, however, as the torture and oppression of the Awami government without voters on the BNP leaders and workers increases, the speed of the storm of protest will intensify.
At the same time, former Chairman of Srinagar Upazila of Munshiganj Alhaj Momin Ali, former District BNP Organizing Secretary Abdul Quddus Dhiren, former Vice Chairman of Srinagar Upazila Parishad Salim, BNP leaders Jasim Uddin, Delwar Hossain and Ansar Ali, Awlad Hossain and 53 others from a social event in the capital Dhaka and Netrakona. Mirza Fakhrul strongly condemned and protested the arrest of District BNP Joint Convener Moniruzzaman Dudu, Sadar Upazila Volunteers’ Convenor Aynal Haque from his house.
The BNP General Secretary in his statement demanded immediate withdrawal of the false cases filed against the arrested leaders and their unconditional release.
