Youth ‘murderer’ absconding 2 after being hit by Feludar in Shahparan

A young man was ‘murdered’ by an opponent while cutting hills (tila soil) in Pirerchak Bazar area of Sylhet Sadar Upazila. The young man died on the spot when he was hit on the chest by the blade of the earth-cutting machine excavator/feluder.

This incident happened on Sunday (March 19) around 8:30 am.

Deceased Ashiq Mia (34) is the son of deceased Maqbul Hossain of village Pirerchak Kushirgul. The two accused are absconding since the incident. In this incident, Ashiq’s younger brother Masuk Mia is preparing to file a case at Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) Shahparan police station as the plaintiff.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Shahparan police station Syed Anisur Rahman said – there is no witness to this incident. Locals found Ashiq’s body lying there and took him to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead. Since the incident, two of Ashiq’s neighbors are absconding. They are Israb Ali (50) and Mahmud Hossain (45) son of Manhar Ali Manu Mia of Pirerchak village. OC said – In the case, a person named Khurshed Alam (35) from the same area has been made an accused along with these two.

Syed Anisur Rahman said – It is not yet known what actually happened between them. However, it is initially believed to be a case of murder. Ashiq has deep injury marks on his chest. The police are working to find out the whole matter. OC Anisur Rahman said that the body will be handed over to the family after the post-mortem.

Meanwhile, according to local sources, there is a long-standing dispute between Ashik’s family and the three accused. On Sunday morning, the accused started cutting the soil with vechus in the disputed area. When Ashiq protested, a quarrel started between the two parties and at one stage he was killed by a veku.
