Digital Act police case against actress Mahi and her husband

Actress Mahia Mahi’s husband businessman and Awami League leader Rakib Sarkar’s car showroom was attacked and vandalized. He made this complaint live from Mahi’s Facebook page on Friday morning. Apart from this, in that Facebook Live, the police were accused of trying to seize the land of the opponent by taking a bribe.
Meanwhile, the police have filed a case against Mahia Mahi and her husband Rakib Sarkar under the Digital Security Act on the charge of spreading defamatory information on Facebook Live. The case was registered at Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Basan police station on Friday night. Rakib Sarkar is the main accused in the case and Mahia Mahi is the accused number 2.
In this regard, GMP Commissioner Molya Nazrul Islam said that actress Mahia Mahi and her husband Rakib Sarkar have committed the crime of degrading law and order by spreading various false, fabricated, offensive, ugly and defamatory information with the intention of insulting, slandering and defaming. A case has been filed against them under the Digital Security Act. The case was filed by Sub-Inspector (SI) of Basan police station Mohammad Rekon Miah.
Rakib Sarkar said about Mahi on Facebook live, he has a car showroom called ‘Soniraj Car Palace’ on the east side of Alam Government College in Bhawal Badr of Gazipur city, next to the Dhaka-Tangail highway. Locals Ismail Hossain and Mamun Sarkar attacked the showroom at around five in the morning on Friday. The attackers broke the gate of the showroom and entered and took away various furniture, glass doors and windows, vandalized tables and chairs and removed the signboard of the showroom. Ransacked office premises and looted money. When Rakib Sarkar’s people rushed to the spot after receiving the news, the miscreants escaped.
Rakib Sarkar and Mahia Mahi are currently staying in Saudi Arabia to perform the holy Umrah. According to family sources of Rakib Sarkar, he will return home with his wife on Saturday. Rakib Sarkar called a press conference at his showroom on Saturday afternoon.
Ismail Hossain held a press conference on Friday afternoon. According to him, there is 32 and a half percent land owned by him and the Mamun government on the northern side of the Dhaka-Tangail highway. Rakib Sarkar forcibly occupied the place for almost five years and set up a car showroom. When Mamun Sarkar went to work on the land, Rakib Sarkar forcibly took away goods worth lakhs of rupees along with construction materials through his forces. A rod binding machine belonging to Ismail Hussain was broken. At that time his people came and beat Ismail Hossain and his people. Three others were injured along with him. A complaint has been filed at Basan police station in this incident.
Meanwhile, Rakib Sarkar complained on Facebook Live that the GMP police is trying to seize the land on behalf of Ismail by taking a bribe of 1.5 million rupees. In this regard, Ismail Hossain said, “Raqib Sarkar demanded one crore taka from me in exchange for giving up the land. Why should I pay one and a half crore to the police where the problem is solved by paying one crore taka? If the police is on my side, why am I being beaten up today, why did I go to the Minister of Liberation War Affairs and the Home Minister to file a complaint.
Regarding the attack and vandalism of the showroom, Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Basan Police Station OC Sanwar Jahan said that the police rushed to the spot after receiving the information on 999. None of the attackers were found there. 20-25 people of Rakib Sarkar were seen there. According to local people, there was a fight over the ownership of the showroom space. However, no complaint was received in this regard. If complaints are received, legal action will be taken after investigation.
