Trying to create a crisis of daily commodities around Ramadan is a very serious act: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called on everyone to be vigilant against food adulteration, hoarding, black market and the attempt to create a crisis of daily commodities in view of the holy month of Ramadan.
He said, ‘I call on everyone to be vigilant so that no one can do this – adulteration of food, hoarding or black market and creating crisis of daily commodities.’
The prime minister said this at a function organized on the occasion of the inauguration of 50 more model mosques and Islamic cultural centers across the country on Thursday. Khabar bus
He said, ‘The month of Ramadan is ahead. At this time, some of our traders try to increase the price of goods. It is very demanding work. Because the month of Ramadan is a time of austerity and people should focus on doing their religious work and fasting properly. At that time, there is no point in raising the prices of these profiteers and putting people in danger.’
Sheikh Hasina said, ‘You should tell people more about black market or hoarding or food adulteration and causing unnecessary suffering to the people when imams preach Friday prayers in mosques. You can say it in sermon or make people aware. I will request the respected imams and servants of the mosque to act in the same way. Then the tendency of people to take extra profit will definitely decrease.’
Pointing out that the government has arranged family cards to ensure that the low-income people get basic products at a fair price, the Prime Minister said, ‘We are buying rice at a higher price and giving it to different families at the price of 30 rupees. Ahead of Ramzan, we have taken the initiative to supply rice to another 1 crore people at the rate of Tk 15 per kg and we are also giving 30 kg of rice free of cost to those who are unable to perform. The government has taken the initiative to supply these daily necessities at a fair price so that people do not suffer.
The Prime Minister asked everyone to pray for the government to take forward the work of socio-economic development of Bangladesh in a better way. He said, not a single person of this country will be landless and homeless. His government is providing free houses and livelihood to the homeless and landless. Government subsidizes agriculture. Implementing various measures for the welfare of workers and creating 100 economic zones and providing employment. Pravasikalyan Bank has also arranged collateral-free bank loans for those going abroad.
He also pointed out that his government has made all kinds of arrangements because someone falls under the clutches of brokers and ends up drowning in the Mediterranean sea abroad.
The Prime Minister inaugurated these model mosques in the third phase through video conference from Ganobhaban. He has so far inaugurated 150 mosques out of 564 mosques to be built across the country in three phases at a cost of Tk 9,435 crore.
The head of government inaugurated 50 mosques in the first phase on June 10, 2021 and another 50 model mosques in the second phase on January 16 this year. Construction of the remaining mosques and Islamic cultural centers will be completed by June 2024.
These model mosques and Islamic cultural centers have separate areas for ablution and prayers with air conditioning. Besides, registration and training system for Hajj pilgrims, Imam training center, research center and Islamic library, autism corner, pre-burial ceremony, car parking facility, safe deposit box, pre-primary education and Quranic education system, Islamic cultural activities and conference center for calling to Islam, There are accommodation facilities for local and foreign guests including Islamic book selling center, mosque.
