A housewife named Sathi Begum (30) was bitten by a snake while irrigating the corn field in Sadullapur Upazila of Gaibandha.

He died in Rangpur Medical College Hospital in the early hours of Thursday (March 16).

Shafiqul Kabir Mintu, chairman of Dhaperhat Union Parishad (UP), confirmed the matter.

Sathi Begum is the wife of Azadul Islam of Hingar Para village of Dhaperhat Union of Upazila.

Quoting relatives, UP Chairman Shafiqul Kabir Mintu said that Sathi Begum went to irrigate her corn field around noon on Tuesday (March 14). Meanwhile, a poisonous snake in the pit bit his hand. He was then taken to a local Ojha for treatment. When his condition worsened, he was admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. Sathi Begum died there this morning. Such an incident is very sad. His death has cast a shadow of mourning in the area.
