Alleged rape of a child in a corn field

In Gaibandha Sadar Upazila, an allegation of gang rape of a seven-year-old child in a corn field by tempting her with biscuits has been made. In this incident, the child’s father filed a complaint against the three people at the police station.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gaibandha Sadar Police Station Masudur Rahman confirmed the matter on Wednesday (March 15) night. Earlier, the incident took place in Dakshin Gidari (Foliar Ghop) village of Gaibandha Sadar Upazila last Monday (March 13) afternoon.

The child is a first class student of a local government primary school.

According to the statement, neighbors Akash Mia and Moshiur Khandkar had been harassing the child for quite some time. At one stage last Monday (March 13) afternoon, the child was playing in the homestead. Sensing the opportunity, Aakash Mia and Moshiur Khandkar raped the child by taking her to a deserted corn field, luring her with biscuits. When the child screamed, they held the child’s face. At one point the locals heard the sound of the child’s gongrani. Later, the locals rescued the child in a bleeding state and admitted him to Gaibandha General Hospital.

The accused are Akash Mia (14) and Moni Mia (22) sons of Helal Khandkar of Syedpurghat village of Phulchari upazila of the district and Moshiur Khandkar (20) son of Tara Khandkar of Dakshin Gidari (Foliar Ghop) village of Sadar upazila. Akash Mia’s brother Moni Mia is threatening. They are very influential in the area. Involved in various crimes including drugs.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station Masudur Rahman said, I have received a complaint in this regard. The child was admitted to Gaibandha General Hospital by his relatives. Legal action will be taken after investigation.
