Cows have been distributed among the marginal fishermen of Kumarkhali Upazila of Kushtia with the aim of creating alternative employment among the beneficiary fishermen registered under the Hilsa Resource Development and Management Project. On Wednesday (March 15) at 11:00 o’clock at Kumarkhali Upazila Square, the Upazila Fisheries Department organized the distribution of alternative employment materials under the chairmanship of Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Bitan Kumar Mondal, and the chief guest was Barrister Salim Altaf George, Member of Parliament for 78 Kushtia-4 (Khoksa-Kumarkhali) Constituency. At this time, the chief guest said that the current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina loves the people of Bengal. For this, as an alternative employment for the marginal fishermen, the She-calf of the cow has been distributed among 15 fishermen in the upazila as a gift. In this continuation, the remaining beneficiary fishermen of the upazila will be brought under this project, he said. He also said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the country is moving forward in the World War. According to his instructions, all the government officials of the district upazila are working together for the development of the country. Kumarkhali Upazila Senior Fisheries Officer Mahmudul Hasan was the special guest along with District Fisheries Officer Nipendra Nath Biswas, Kumarkhali Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Md. Saidur Rahman, Female Vice Chairman Marina Akhtar Mina and others. At the end of the program, the chief guest distributed 1 cow each to 15 marginal registered fishermen of different unions of the upazila.
