A motorcyclist died after being hit by a sand-carrying truck in Srimangal

A motorcycle rider was killed after being hit by a sand-carrying truck in Moulvibazar’s Srimangal.

The accident took place in the Shahji Bazar area of the Dhaka-Sylhet highway on Tuesday (March 14) around 2:30 pm.

The deceased is Abdul Qadir (65), the owner of Qadir Engineering on Habiganj Road in the city. He is a resident of Khosbas area of Ashidron Union of Upazila.

According to local and police sources, Abdul Qadir was seriously injured when a truck carrying sand from Srimangal hit the motorcycle in Shahazirbazar area on his way to Srimangal town on a motorcycle from Ashidron area. On receiving the information, the fire service personnel took the injured person to Srimangal Upazila Hospital. Later, when the condition worsened, the injured died on the way to Sylhet Osmani Hospital.

Rakib Bin Islam, acting in-charge of Satgaon Highway Police Station in Srimangal, said that the injured man died after being hit by a truck. We impounded the truck and brought it to the highway police station. The driver of the car is absconding. However, no case has yet been filed in this regard.
