Disclosure of information in Police-Magistracy Conference in Habiganj, 6 thousand cases settled

Monthly Police-Magistrate Conference has been held under the initiative of Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Habiganj. Chief Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Haroon Or-Rashid presided over the conference held on March 11 and delivered the welcome speech.

Judicial Magistrate and Focal Person, Police Magistrates’ Conference Md Chifat Ullah was in charge of the program.

In the event, Senior Judicial Magistrate Md. Zakir Hossain presented information regarding case filing and settlement statistics. In 2022, Judicial Magistrate Md Chifat Ullah presented the comparative statistics regarding the investigation and process settlement of the police stations of Habiganj district. Based on that information, Shaestaganj police station was selected for the best performance in terms of presentation of evidence in the court, process settlement, warrant tamil, report submission and other matters. Shaistaganj police station received an honor from the Crest Chief Judicial Magistrate, present and former officer in charge.

In the free discussion of the program, various aspects of police magistracy were discussed including the presentation of witnesses in court and various responsibilities of the health department for speedy disposal of cases.

Officer-in-charge of Shaistaganj, Madhavpur, Chunarughat and Habiganj Sadar Model Police Stations participated in the discussion. In the event, Dr. Aminul Haque Sarkar, Superintendent of Modern Sadar Hospital and representative of Habiganj Civil Surgeon gave answers to various questions related to MC and PM reports of the officers in-charge from different police stations.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Jhumu Sarkar, Tahmina Haque, Rahela Parveen, Judicial Magistrate Fakhrul Islam, Abdul Alim, Masuma Akhter were present among others. Additional District Magistrate Priyanka Rani and Additional Superintendent of Police Shailen Chakma spoke as special guests on the occasion.

A review of the report presented at the event shows that since Chief Judicial Magistrate Md. Haroon Or-Rashid joined in June 2021, the backlog of nearly 6,000 cases has been reduced and cases have been disposed of quickly. Various steps are taken to settle the case. In the event, a comparative analysis was presented regarding filing/receipt and settlement of cases from 2007 to 2022. The disposal rate in 2022 is 132.21% and the number of pending cases in 2023 is 11,964.
