Discussion with Gold Star Members of SMC on Maternal and Child Health Protection at Srimangal

Social marketing companies SMC and Shimandik are working alongside the family planning department of the government to protect the health of mothers and children.
An exchange meeting was held with 229 women members of Gold Star members of 6 upazilas of Moulvibazar district of the organization on Saturday.
A joint initiative of Social Marketing Company and Shimandik at Shrimangal BRAC Learning Center in Moulvibazar under the chairmanship of Executive Director of Shimandik Kazi Moksedur Rahman, Deputy Director of Moulvibazar Family Planning Directorate Mahbubur Rahman was present as the chief guest. IEM Unit Assistant Director Israt Jabeen, Srimangal Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Sazzat Hossain Chowdhury and Srimangal Upazila Press Club General Secretary Bikul Chakraborty were present as special guests.
During the day-long USAID-supported MISHD project’s gold star members’ exchange of experience and opinions, the speakers said that the experienced gold star members will go to the field level to check the condition of the mothers’ bodies and give them the necessary materials to improve their physical conditions. This will improve maternal and child health and nutritional status, as well as women entrepreneurs will be more resilient. Also present in the meeting were Srimangal Upazila family-planning officer Abu Saleh Md. Zakir along with senior officials of SMC and Border.
Various achievements in the meeting, role in empowering women by becoming public representatives of 7 women in the district, bringing essential health products to people’s hands, establishing healthy behavior as a tool to change lives, moreover declaring commitment to build a country free from maternal death and child death. is
Mr. Dr. Md. Ruhul Amin, project manager of Borders, presented the progress of Moulvibazar district in the last one year and the next strategy in the meeting.
SMC Head – BCC Mr. Mohiuddin Ahmed shared experiences and ideas with Goldstar members and gave guidance to take the women entrepreneurship program forward. In his speech, he emphasized on delivering various health messages and public health materials of SMC to the doorsteps of people at the community level, as well as pledged to work as partners with the government. As a result, the health and nutritional status of mothers and children will improve, and women entrepreneurs will become more resilient.
