“Demand for Election System under Interim Government”

The top leaders of the Democracy Forum called for the resignation of the government and an interim government and a fair election initiated by the government to advance the movement to reform the state system.
On Saturday (March 11) afternoon, the leaders made this call at the human bandh held at Paltan Mor on the initiative of Demokratia Manch to protest the unbridled increase in the price of daily necessities including rice, pulses, oil, agricultural and educational materials and the 14-point demand of the simultaneous movement, including the dissolution of the current parliament and the establishment of an interim government.

Hasnat Qayyum said in the president’s speech, everyone should participate in the movement that has started on the way of reforming the constitution and reforming the state system by holding an interim government and a fair election on the basis of the 14-point program.
He also said that the central management committee of the democracy stage will announce the next program in the next meeting.
Mahmudur Rahman Manna, President of Nagorika Oikya, said that the Prime Minister is traveling abroad with a huge fleet of people’s money to maintain his power, but what has benefited the people. No matter how much the government makes excuses, there will be any election under Sheikh Hasina. Those who are in the simultaneous movement with the Democracy Manch will not go to any election under him. The Prime Minister has promised many times but never delivers. No one trusts his words anymore. He must give up power.
Saiful Haque, general secretary of Bangladesh Revolutionary Workers Party, said Masud Rana, organizer of Revolutionary Workers Party, was attacked and injured in Ashulia last night. They want to stop the movement by attacking and prosecuting people all over the country. But there is no way but to ensure the downfall of this government through a movement in front of the people. There is no security anywhere for the people of the country, the people of the country have been put in gas chambers. This government wants to prolong its illegal power by keeping people all over the country hostage. Their fall must be ensured.
Jonaid Saki, chief coordinator of Mass Solidarity Movement, said that there is no fair distribution of power in the current state system. The Democracy Forum has made it clear that the structure of how the power of the state will be distributed must be fixed. Our crisis will not be solved without structural reforms of the state. Even if the system loss management of electricity and gas could be controlled, the price of daily commodities would be at a very acceptable level but the government does not control this because the name of system loss is looted.
Member Secretary of People’s Rights Council Nurul Haque said that the present government is continuing looting and smuggling in the name of development. The prices of daily necessities have gone to such a level that it has become difficult for the common man to run a household. To disrupt the movement of opposition parties, the government is creating chaos in the name of peace rally to push the whole country towards conflict. Elections should be held immediately under the interim government.
JSD Vice President Ed. KM Jaber said that the Awami League government has been oppressing the people of Bangladesh for 14 years. This government will be forced to resign through immediate mass movement based on the specific program of the Democracy Platform.
