Bangladesh is not a good team in T20 format like ODI. The Tigers did not do well in the 2021 T20 World Cup, next year’s T20 format Asia Cup. The tri-series in New Zealand did not go well. The achievement in the T20 World Cup was only to give hope for the best.
The Bangladesh team started the year by winning the first T20 of the three-match series against England. According to Nazmul Shanta, who is on his way to making the Bangladesh team in all three formats, this win against England will give them confidence. This win could be a game changer for Bangladesh in the T20 format.
“They are the best team in the world,” said Shanto after the big win against England in Chittagong on Thursday. This win against them will give us confidence. Like ODI, we are slowly preparing the T20 team as well. We have to start anew in the second match. But the first win can be a game changer. We should win the series from here.’
Bangladeshi cricketers played T20 franchise league BPL before England series. Nazmul Shanto was the highest run scorer in BPL. He got two fifties in ODI format with that confidence. He also played fifty innings in T20 format. Although the strike rate in BPL was a little low, his bat was wide against the English.
Shanto said about the batting plan, “No plan was given from the dressing room. Just tried to take the momentum of the opening pair. I tried to play according to the ball. Being in the run, my confidence was also good. Batters are given freedom in this series. Its effects will not be felt quickly. He needs time.
