3 people, including a madrasa teacher, were killed when a bus ran over them at Kashiani in Gopalganj. The accident took place at Pona bus stand area of Kashiani upazila on Dhaka-Khulna highway today, Tuesday (March 7).

The deceased are Madrasa teacher MA Hasib (50), son of Shamsul Haque, son of Shamsul Haque of Helencha village of Alfadanga Upazila of Faridpur, Nabir Sheikh (22), son of Lokman Sheikh, bicycle rider of Pona village of Kashiani Upazila and Md. Raja Mia’s son Abdur Rahim (25).

SI Manvendra Biswas of Bhatiapara Highway Police said that a passenger bus of Dola Paribahan leaving from Dhaka lost control and crushed a motorcycle and a bicycle at the spot. The motorcyclist MA Haseeb was killed on the spot and the cyclists Nabir Sheikh and Abdur Rahim were seriously injured. Later, the fire service and locals rescued the injured and took them to the 100-bed health complex of Kashiani Upazila, where the doctor on duty declared the two youths dead. At that time, the highway was blocked for some time. At present, traffic is normal.
