Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Md. Shahab Uddin said the present government is working relentlessly to ensure pollution free environment and safe balanced & nutritious food for the people of the country. Although under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Bangladesh is self-sufficient in food, now toxic substances and pathogens free safe and healthy food should be ensured. In order to make the country people healthy, happy and prosperous, everyone must come forward to ensure safe food.
He said these while addressing a function titled ‘Food safety in meat value chain’ on the occasion of National Food Safety Day-2023 at the Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University on Monday. Vice-Chancellor of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Professor Dr. Md. Shahidur Rashid Bhuiyan presided over the function. Treasurer of the University Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam; Chairman of Bangladesh Food Safety Authority Md. Abdul Kayowm Sarker; Assistant Representative (Program) of the Food and Agriculture Organization Dr. Nur Ahmed Khandaker and Team Leader and Proctor of the University Professor Dr. Md. Harun Ur Rashid were present among others.
