A father and son were killed in a head-on collision between Lites and autorickshaw CNG in Jokiganj, Sylhet.

The accident took place on the Sylhet-Jakiganj road at Parchak Bottartal Bazaar of Barhal Union of the upazila on Thursday morning.

The deceased are Faliq Ahmad (45), son of deceased Asab Ali of Sherpur, Naraping, Golapganj, and his son Shaheen Ahmad (8).

According to local sources, this Thursday morning Faliq Ahmed was going to his in-laws’ house in Shahbagh area of Barhal Union of Jokiganj in a CNG auto-rickshaw. A CNG autorickshaw collided with a microbus (Lightes) vehicle after reaching Parachak Battartal area on the Sylhet-Jakiganj road at around 11:15 am. This caused the CNG autorickshaw to fall into the ditch. Shaheen was killed on the spot. Faliq Ahmad died after being brought to Osmani Medical College Hospital.

It is reported that several others were injured in the incident.
