Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) will soon launch an international standard ‘Bangabandhu Cancer Center’ to ensure good medical care for cancer patients and research on cancer prevention. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Sharfuddin Ahmed confirmed the matter on Wednesday morning. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Sharfuddin Ahmed said this while speaking at several international meetings in Japan on Tuesday on the topic of cancer treatment and cancer prevention research. In a special round table meeting after the lecture, he sought the cooperation of Japan’s National Cancer Center for the establishment of ‘Bangabandhu Cancer Centre’. They reached a consensus about publishing research articles on cancer and starting a cancer registry through mutual experience sharing. Dr. Manami Inouye, Head of the ‘Division of Prevention’ of the National Cancer Center of Japan, Dr. Tomohiro Matsuda, Head of the Division of International Health Policy Research, Section Head (Division of Prevention) Dr. Sarah K. Abe, Staff Scientist of the Division of International Health Policy Research, Dr. Laureline Gatelier, Hamamatsu University School of Medicine Senior Assistant Professor Dr. Shafiur Rahman, Hitotsubashi Institute for Advanced Study Research Associate Dr. Rashedul Islam and University of Tokyo PhD Fellow Dr. Tajbir Ahmed were present.
