A disabled young woman was raped in the village of Sadullapur upazila of Gaibandha. Although a case has been registered in the police station, the accused is still absconding. Although the police are active to arrest the accused.

According to the case source and on the spot, Munna Sheikh (20), the son of Muha Abdul Baki Sheikh of Chhota Daulatpur village adjacent to the barber market of Khordkomarpur Union No. 11 of the same upazila, seduced a disabled young woman (20) and called her to his house against her will on July 7/22. Forced rape on date afternoon. As a result, the disabled woman became 6 months pregnant. When several arbitration meetings were held on the matter, the family of the rapist continued to make excuses with delay in the name of marriage. And the victim’s disabled family claimed that the rapist Munna was kept away from the house or ran away by his family.

In the end, the disabled young woman became the plaintiff and filed a case (Case No. 11, dated 15/02/2023 under Section 9 (1) of the Women and Child Torture Act Amendment of 2000/2003) at the Sadullapur Police Station.

In this regard, Sadullapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Pradeep Kumar Roy said that both sides tried to settle the matter several times. But when all their efforts failed, the accused ran away and later filed a case. Although it is not possible to arrest the accused rapist as he is absconding, police efforts are continuing to arrest the accused.
