Rape of female colleague, police constable dismissed

A constable of the Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) has been suspended for allegedly blackmailing and raping a female colleague. He was fired on Sunday.
Earlier on Saturday, when the constable was arrested and sent to the court in the case filed by the female colleague, the court ordered him to be sent to jail.
The dismissed constable is Rubel Mia (36), son of Abdul Malek of Chheopur area of Sadar police station in Netrokona district. He was working at Shikalbaha police outpost of Karnaphuli police station in Chittagong.
According to court and police sources, the woman developed a love relationship with Rubel Mia. He took pictures of their private moments at different times. On January 14, he threatened to spread the pictures on social media and called her to a hotel in Bahaddarhat of the city and raped her. The woman constable filed a case at Chandgaon Police Station in this incident on Saturday. After the case, Rubel was arrested by the police.
City Police Deputy Commissioner (Port) Shakila Soltana said, “Rubel Mia has been suspended from the job. A departmental case has been filed. If the allegations are proved, he will be permanently dismissed.
